What is Tinnitus?

Tinnitus is basically a phantom ringing  or buzzing sound in the ear. It's estimated that 50 million Americans  suffer annually from tinnitus. More than 90% of American Tinnitus  Association members with tinnitus also claim some level of hearing loss.  Tinnitus is not a disease, but a condition that can result from a wide  range of underlying causes, including; neurological damage (multiple  sclerosis), abnormally loud sounds in the ear canal for even the  briefest period (but usually with some duration), ear infections,  foreign objects in the ear and nasal allergies that prevent (or induce)  fluid drain, or wax build-up.
